What’s worse than getting destroyed by West Virginia 70-33 in the Orange Bowl? Having West Virginia put up a sign of the score 70-33 for recruiting purposes on highway I-79. It just so happens that the highways speed limit is 70 miles per hour so of course they incorporated that into the billboard. It’s important to drive safe.
WVU spokeswoman Becky Lofstead said WVU advertises on billboards, one on I-79 and the other on I-68, to use as recruitment marketing. The Orange Bowl message is on both of those boards.
The school spends about $14,000 a year on the billboards, Lofstead said. It is likely the new ones will be displayed for six months.
The billboard can be seen entering West Virginia from the north side of the state. The Dominion Post had this to say.

WVU will brag about winning the Orange Bowl, but will not play FSU ’cause they know the Seminoles would turn them into road kill as we have done in the past!

FSU would have gotten destroyed. Who did they beat worth beating this year? Florida? Clemson beat yall. Whats true of the past is not guaranteed in the future. WVU had a great team in ’11. They put up 21 points on LSU, the only other two teams that did that was Oregon and Alabama.
No, that’s not it. It’s just that we’re moving to the Big 12 and there’s simply no room on the new schedule for FSU. Considering WVU beat ACC Champion Clemson and Clemson beat FSU by 5 in the regular season it’s fair to say that WVU would’ve just as easily handled FSU. At least WVU is going to a conference where the member teams will be competitive. Remember that we are undefeated against Oklahoma (we’ve played them more than once), the latest of which win was a BCS win a few years back. I recall that was a year or so before we played another ACC team and also beat them in a BCS game. WVU is 3-0 in BCS games. FSU? Cheers!

Hey, maybe they can get another billboard and make fun of Clemson kids who got injured during the game.
I was kind of hoping that Holgerson had just gotten lost in the moment and unwittingly ran up the score.

Always picking on the ACC… WVU has looked a little more like what they are against the SEC. You guys have fun arguing over who’s the best of the rest.
Best of the rest? It certainly is not any team in the ACC? WVU waxed Clemson, VaTech (who lost to Clemson in that laugher ACC Championship game) lost in the other BCS game (how did the ACC even merit 2 BCS games?), and Jimbo Fisher is on his way out of Tallahassee this year unless things change dramatically. Not sure who the best of the rest is but it’s not any team in the ACC.
I had to comment on this after seeing some unintellegent person post,,, WVU wont play Florida St… Are you kidding me ?? FSU SUCKS !! Especially this year.. And if WVU would have played them instead of Clemson,, the score would have been WVU 95 vs. Fl.St. 33.. Watch what happens in the Big 12.. to bobby bow,, WVU will win the Big 12 title the first year. Why ?? Cause all their boys are coming back.. hardley any of them graduating.. And as far as running up the score ?? Isnt it Clemsons job to stop them from doing that ?? Seems to me like Clemson experienced some hillbilly justice !! lol
What is the BFD??? You don’t think other schools or states would revel in setting a scoring record for BCS games? WVU lost a couple of starters to injury even before the game, so the Holgonator was not rubbing in. Maybe the Orange Bowl mascot, Obie, can have a gripe, otherwise ACC fans can look forward to upcoming gridiron competition with Pitt and Syracuse
