AL.com is reporting that Auburn Tiger head coach has been fired as head coach. He was hired after a terrible season while coaching the Iowa State Cyclones while having a completely terrible record. Turner Gill was another possible candidate for the job but was not hired. In 2010, Gene Chizik won a BCS National Championship led by quarterback Cam Newton who ended up winning the Heisman trophy. Offensive Coordinator Gus Malzahn played a huge role in a their championship run.

Despite having a lackluster defense under defensive coordinator Ted Roof in 2010, they were able to hold up the crystal ball after defeating South Carolina in the SEC Championship and then the Oregon Ducks in the BCS National Championship after Wes Byrum kicked the game winning field goal. The Auburn Tiger 2011 season was quite disappointing in which they almost lost to Utah State and in 2012, they went winless in the SEC and almost lost to Louisiana Monroe. The Iron Bowl this year against the Alabama Crimson Tide went absolutely terrible for the Auburn Tigers where they were shut down and absolutely dominated in every facet of the game. It appears the Auburn boosters and administration has had enough of Scot Loeffler, Brian Van Gorder, and Gene Chizik. The question now remains. Where does Auburn go from here?
